You are cordially Invited to the next lecture “K-9 topology” by artist Maja Smrekar. The lecture will be on Wednesday, February 27th at 6pm.
Maja Smrekar was born 1978 in Slovenia. Her work has been established in the international art and science milieu by interdisciplinarily researching the developments and application of ideological structures in society. Grounded in formal sculpture, her practice has allowed her to lead collaborations in developing cross-conceptual productions that include installations, performances, site specific art, drawings, videos, sound, as well as contributions to knowledge exchanged within lectures, talks and texts. She has exhibited in fine arts and media arts museum contexts such as ZKM Karlsruhe (Germany), Musée de l`Homme (Paris, France), Het Neuwe Institut (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), Art Laboratory Berlin (Germany), Latvian National Arts Museum (Riga, Latvia), Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (Ljubljana, Slovenia), Milton Keynes Gallery (United Kingdom), RMIT Gallery Melbourne (Australia) and festivals like Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria), Transmediale (Berlin, Germany), Click (Helsingor, Denmark) and Musrarra Mix (Jerusalem, Israel).
She has been awarded at the Cynetart festival 2012 by the European Centre for Arts Hellerau (Dresden/Germany), Honorary mention at the Ars Electronica festival 2013 (Linz/Austria), Golden Bird Award 2013 (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and Trend Award 2017 – Prize for Visual Creativity (Ljubljana/Slovenia). She is the winner of the Prix Ars Electronica – Golden Nica 2017 in Hybrid Art (Linz/Austria). In 2018 she was awarded Prešeren Foundation Award (Ljubljana/Slovenia).
Maja Smrekar lives and works between Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Berlin (Germany).
